Welcome to Des Moines Adult Hockey Association

Mission Statement

The mission of the Des Moines Adult Hockey Association (DMAHA) is to promote the growth and development of amateur adult ice hockey in Central Iowa. DMAHA will work to provide the best possible experience for all players by providing an environment that stimulates a fun, enjoyable and competitive experience for all skill levels.  We are an independent non-profit association built by hockey players for hockey players.
On behalf of our DMAHA Board, we would like to welcome you all to the Inaugural Spring/Summer Ice Hockey Season. We are scheduled to begin play on 11 April 2010 and will be played on Sundays and Wednesday.  Game times and rules will be posted.

Our Promise

We promise to develop adult hockey in central Iowa. We are a board who will be working closely with team captains and all of you who are part of the association. All operation of this association will be subject to absolute transparency. The association will have an open door policy on nearly all league meetings.  Discipline meetings will be the exception, but results will be posted.  Situations of the recent past will not be address other then our new association is not and will not participate in any litigation for or against any party involved.  We are working to provide a quality hockey experience through membership and the governing board.  This will avoid many of the past difficulties.  Questions and concerns will be handled at each board meeting.  Your questions and concerns will best be heard and addressed through written submission.   We will post the question or concern and the response from the board.
 

Organizational Structure

This not-for-profit organization was created to represent the adult hockey players in Central Iowa.  Any excess funds that are left over at the end of the season will remain within our organization and invested in future advancement of our leagues or applied to the next season to lower the cost to each player.  We have no direct affiliation with any rink outside of our season ice contracts.  The board members/officers are all volunteers and receive no compensation for their work with our organization. All members have a voice in this organization and are encouraged to take an active role by attending meetings and volunteering for office or league committees when the opportunities arise.  Voting will occur annually so if you don’t like they way things have been run, you can have someone nominate you for a position.

Transparency and Accountability
 
Financial reporting will be made available in writing to our members on an annual basis and the board will review monthly financial statements, which will be created by our Treasurer.  Access to financial statements will be open to members upon request and will be presented in a timely fashion.  All disbursements of league funds will be subject to board approval and will require two authorized signatures
 
Our operations will continue to grow and change to enhance quality game play well into the future. In an effort to promote and develop hockey we will be eventually adding a novice or “D” league, seasonal adult tournaments, and occasional skill-development clinics.  We will be looking for more volunteers to help manage and develop these future ventures. 

The DMAHA site, www.DMAHAI.com  will offer contact information, game schedules, important dates, game rules, Board meeting minutes, registration information, and other content that will help our season run smoothly. It is our intent to provide you those great moments out of this opportunity.  We'll see you all on the ice.
